Requirements for Boarding
1. For the protection of all of our patients and boarders, we require that all pets be current on the following vaccinations:
Dogs:
DHLPP (Distemper-Hepatitis-Leptospirosis-Parainfluenza-Parvo)
Bordetella (Infections Tracheobronchitis or Kennel Cough)
Rabies
Cats:
FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia)
Rabies
2. Animals should be free of fleas and other parasites. If a parasite problem is found, we will treat appropriately for the condition with additional charge to the client. A negative stool sample in the last 6 months is requested to help prevent the spread of intestinal parasites.
3. Boarding can be stressful for very young (under 4 months old) or very old pets. A pet sitter or at home care may be better options for these pets. Long term boarding (over 2 weeks) should be avoided when possible.
Feeding
1. Our hospital feeds (Science Diet Sensitive stomach) dry food for dogs and Science Diet Feline Maintenance dry food for cats.
2. If you would like your pet to have their regular food and/or treats, please bring them with when you drop off. If your pet has any special dietary needs, please tell the receptionist at check in.
Special Needs
1. If your pet is on medication, please bring it and tell the receptionist at check in. This includes Heartworm and Flea preventatives. There is no additional charge for administering medications.
2. Please bring any prescription food your pet may be on. There will be an additional charge if it is forgotten or runs out while boarding.
3. Diabetic pets will have an additional fee for administering medication. Owners must supply Insulin and syringes. There will be an additional charge for any testing, supplies, or medications used from our pharmacy.
Medical Services
1. As a service to our clients, routine examinations, vaccinations, fecal testing and Heartworm testing can be performed while your pet is boarding. If an examination is required for other health problems, an Office Call fee will be charged. Please be specific about why we are examining your pet, including symptoms noticed at home, locations of lumps or sores, etc. Please feel free to speak with a Doctor or Technician at drop off.
2. It is very important to leave an emergency phone number where you or someone who can make medical decisions regarding your pet can be reached at all times in the event that your pet becomes ill while boarding. Our regular fees will be charged for any medical treatment provided while boarding.
Bathing
Pets do not always stay clean while boarding and may require a bath before going home.
1. Please inform the receptionist if you would like your pet bathed before you pick up.
2. Cats, due to their clean nature, will not be bathed unless requested.
3. If you have requested a bath, please call before picking up your pet to ensure that it has had adequate time to dry.
Special Notes
1. A reservation is required to board your pet. Holiday/School Vacation times fill up very quickly. Please call well in advance for reservations during these times.
2. We will provide blankets and food dishes and litter boxes for your pet while boarding. If you feel that your pet would be more comfortable with their own bedding, dishes or toys, you may bring them along. However, we are not responsible for lost or damaged items during your pets’ stay.
